We did a little experiment to see if we were ready for reusable shopping bags: We reused the paper bags from the grocery store for two months. Once we figured out that we could take the paper bags back out to the car after we emptied them AND remember to take them into the store when we went shopping, we decided that we were ready to take the plunge and purchase some durable shopping bags.
We got a dozen of these. They are very sturdy. Though they're smaller than the average paper or plastic grocery bag, you can fill them fuller. The handles are strong and it's easy to carry several heavy bags at once.
These were a little stiff to start out but are starting to loosen up after about two months of use. We've used them at the regular grocery store and at the discount "bag it yourself" store. They're a little more difficult to fill than regular bags. They don't open flat like a plastic bag or stand up by themselves like a paper bag. But, so what...
Our regular grocery store gives us 5 cents for each bag that we use. It will take a long time to recover the cost this way but we figure we've made a good investment.

These bags are well built. They are washable which makes them way better than the reusable bags you can buy at the grocery store. They also are plain so you can use them for more than just your groceries. Great product and great company.

I have been looking for bags without logos and these are perfect.
My regular grocery store gives me 5 cents credit for each bag I bring in to use!
My only problem is remembering to bring them in with me.

These grocery bags are not as large as others that you can buy, but since they are available in groups of 3 or 6, they make good sense.

With people becoming aware of the importance of taking care of our Mother Earth, using canvas bags is a great alternative to the question, "paper or plastic?" This is a well made grocery tote. It's very strong, and should last a long time. I bought six in the natural color, and plan to personalize them with a little applique after they're washed (I expect they'll shrink some).
